About Us

Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence!

The Alberta Debate and Speech Association (ADSA) is a nonprofit, charitable organization. It was founded by a group of educators who believed in providing quality education to all Alberta students. Today, ADSA proudly serves over 50 member schools and is governed by a volunteer board consisting of teachers who work with the students in the classroom, as well as ADSA Alumni who want to see ADSA continue to provide the best experience for students.

We promote speech and debate activities in English and French in the areas of: Language Arts, Drama, Social Studies, and Science throughout the Province.ADSA is committed to the development of youth in the areas of Critical Thinking, Research, Analytical Thought, Public Speaking, Teamwork, Leadership and Creativity.

The ADSA's staff and volunteers co-ordinate the annual program of curricular materials development, in-services/workshops, clinics, debate and speech activities, and special activities such as Model Legislature, and Law Day Mock Trials. Along with printed and audio-visual materials, ADSA staff are available to assist individual or groups interested in debate and speech activities.

To succeed in our mission, and help all Alberta youth develop the skills that will help them fulfill their potential, we must continue to play our part in creating a more inclusive and equitable world, starting with ourselves.
